From 2024 to 2025, South Seas was honored to participate in the Kiaka Gold Mine Project in Burkina Faso, providing critical power quality equipment - Active Harmonic Filters (AHF) - to the ECG/Lyco project team. As one of the largest gold mining projects in the region, Kiaka Gold Mine required enhanced stability, reliability and intelligent operation of its power system.
The extensive use of variable frequency drives and heavy-duty motors in mining operations often generates harmonics, voltage fluctuations and power factor issues, adversely affecting power quality and equipment lifespan. South Seas' active harmonic filtering solution dynamically responds to harmonic currents in real-time, effectively improving the mine's power factor, reducing energy consumption and enhancing overall electrical system efficiency.
For this supply project, South Seas completed equipment selection, customized parameter configuration and delivery, while also providing comprehensive remote technical support and system commissioning services to ensure immediate operational efficiency. The equipment fully complies with IEC standards and is specifically designed to withstand Burkina Faso's challenging high-temperature and dusty environments, demonstrating South Seas' mature expertise and delivery capabilities in mining power quality optimization.
This collaboration marks another successful partnership between South Seas and ECG/Lyco in West Africa, while contributing intelligent solutions to modernize Africa's mining infrastructure.
