In 2025, South Seas was honoured to provide electrical equipment and technical support for the Rio Tinto Iron Ore Project in Guinea. This project, led by the globally renowned mining company Rio Tinto, is located in the western mining region of Guinea and aims to further enhance the region’s iron ore extraction and processing capabilities. In response to growing mining demands, Rio Tinto is undertaking expansion and technological upgrades to improve operational efficiency and resource recovery rates at the site.


The Guinea Iron Ore Project is one of Rio Tinto’s key investments in the country, focused on developing and producing iron ore to meet rising global market demand. The project encompasses ore extraction, transportation, and processing, all of which rely heavily on a robust power infrastructure to ensure continuous and stable production. As a specialised electrical engineering equipment provider, South Seas was responsible for the supply, installation, and commissioning of the electrical systems, providing reliable support to ensure the successful execution of the project.
